Wieści z obozu Smashing Pumpkins

Mike Byrne, 19-letni student z Oregonu, został nowym perkusistą Smashing Pumpkins! Ząstąpi on Jimmy`ego Chamberlaina, który odszedł z zespołu w marcu tego roku. Podobno pracuje już z Corganem nad nowymi piosenkami, a całą sytuację skomentował – Dream come true, man.

Ponadto – ostatniej nocy skończyła się trasa projektu Spirits in the Sky. Zespół powstał spontanicznie, by uczcić pamięć Skya Saxona (znanego m.in. z The Seeds i Sky Saxon Blues Band), który zmarł 25 czerwca 2009 roku. Corganowi w tym przedsięwzięciu pomagali: Mark Weitz, Mark Tulin i Kerry Brown z zespołu Strawberry Alarm Clock, Kevin Dippold, Linda Strawberry, Ysanne Spevack, Mike Byrne oraz...Dave Navarro.

Billy Corgan wystosował również apel do swoich słuchaczy:
Our brother Sky Saxon, who as many of you know passed recently into the great beyond (and is the inspiration for the Sky in the Spirits) would be very proud to see his brothers and sisters communing peacefully together with music. In honor of Sky today and tonight, because he loved animals so much, try to take a moment to love your pets just a little bit extra. Remember they love you so much, and that that's why they are here, to love. They show us what unconditional love looks like, and they are our teachers as well as our friends. Knowing that you would show kindness to an animal would make Sky very, very happy.

Przypomnijmy, że ostatnia płyta Smashing Pumpkins – Zeitgeist wydana została w 2007 roku. Od tamtej pory ukazało się w 2008 dvd If All Goes Wrong oraz single „superchrist” (na teledysku którego grał Corgan u boku Skya Saxona) i „G.L.O.W.”.
